Biography
Dunya Abrahim is best known for her labor-intensive prints and paintings that have dynamic yet calming compositions. She explores themes of her Palestinian heritage and the issues that surround the Palestine and Israeli culture. Her curiosity of the world around her are infused in her conceptual ideas inspired by the social problems that she sees or reads about each day. Abrahim’s goal is to create a standstill of the hectic society that we all live in so that the viewer can take it all in. She has exhibited in the Cleveland Ohio area at venues including The Galleries at CSU and Zygote Fine Art Press. Awards include Best of Printmaking and Honorable mention in the CSU student art show. She earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from Cleveland State University, where she has received the Visual Arts Merit scholarship award twice. Recently, Dunya has received her Masters of Art in Art Education from Case Western Reserve University. Born and raised in the Cleveland area, Dunya studied painting and printmaking.
